Rossendale Borough Council have commenced the public consultation period into finding suitable development sites in Rossendale to satisfy the next 5 years demand for housing.
Six potential sites have been identified in (y)our beautiful Limey Valley ……..for full details click HERE

The consultation will start on Monday 20th July and run until 5pm on Monday 7th September 2015.

Rossendale Council is embarking on a major public consultation exercise, and is asking for comments from local residents on proposed new sites for future development.
The Local Plan (Part 2) will identify sites which meet the Borough’s development needs over the next ten years.
Enough land must to be found to enable about 250 homes to be built each year and an additional 20ha of employment land.
Sites have been identified throughout Rossendale and the Council is now asking for comments on these sites, and for additional sites to be put forward.
Sites have been chosen that take into account protecting the landscape and habitats, encouraging nature and recreational activities, like walking and cycling, and maintaining or increasing the quality of life.
Land is also being identified for protection and changes are being proposed to the existing Green Belt and Urban Boundary. Policies to guide development are being drafted and also available for comment.
Policies have also been drafted to guide development, such as design policies, and these are also available for comment.
Leader of the Council, Alyson Barnes said, “This is your opportunity to help determine where new development will take place within Rossendale, and how the sites will be built out. We cannot say we don’t want or need new development. Under the Government’s Planning rules, if we don’t identify where new development can go, the opportunity for local decision-making may be lost.”
Documents and maps can be viewed on the Council’s website at http://www.rossendale.gov.uk/land and at all the Borough’s libraries, as well as the Council’s One Stop Shop.
Leaflets will also be delivered to all homes from July 16th, alongside annual canvass documents, so please look out for these and have your say.
The Forward Planning team will also be attending venues across Rossendale (details below) where you can view maps and see copies of the consultation documents.
